Orihuela Costa

Orihuela Costa is ideally located for a nice and exciting holiday. Whether you like to relax or visit interesting sights in the area, this town can definitely give you all you are looking for in a holiday. Orihuela Costa can easily be reached from Alicante airport, making it a popular destination for visitors from all over the world, but especially from nearby European countries, simply because it offers so much variety in culture, sight-seeing and many activities in sports or otherwise.

The coastline comprises around 16 km of fine sandy beaches, rocky coves and clear sparkling waters stretching from Punta Prima to  Mil Palmeras. Here you will find the beaches of Cabo Roig, La Zenia La Glea, Aqua Marina, Mill Palmeras, Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca and Campoamor. Like Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa is a very popular holiday destination all year round with a pleasant nightlife. The quality of the beach and the swimming water meets with the EU’s high standards, resulting in several beaches being awarded the blue flag quality mark.

PLAYA FLAMENCA
This is an open beach of fine sand and it is extremely popular with bathers and sun-seekers alike. Bordered on the north by the beach at Punta Prima and south by La Zenia beach Playa Flamenca is one of the busiest beaches on the Orihuela Costa. This beach has again been awarded the prized Blue Flag, acknowledging the constant attention the beachand its facilities receive from the town hall.

There are parking facilities, special access for handicapped people, telephone, play area, toilets and foot-washing facilities, a life-guard tower and a Red Cross station. There is also a bus stop and taxi rank. There is also a popular promenade and several walkways. Close to the beach are a number of popular restaurants where visitors can taste the traditional dishes of the area.

LA ZENIA
This is one of the busiest beaches in the Orihuela Costa. This sandy beach is 350 meters long by 60 wide. This very popular beach will be endeavouring to secure a Blue Flag next year and is an ideal location for the practising of all sorts of water sports.

There is special access for handicapped persons, toilets, foot-washing facilities and a Red Cross station, public telephone, parking, play area, taxi-rank and a bus service to the area. Located near this beach you can also find many restaurants where you can indulge in excellent Spanish and European cuisine. The nearby hotels offer excellent accommodation.

CABO ROIG
One of the most exclusive and popular resorts is Cabo Roig, very busy during the summer months but quiet in the winter time. Cabo Roig has everything to offer the tourist. It has 2 fine beaches, a superb marina, a spectacular and picturesque cliff walk to La Zenia and a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants along the well known and loved Cabo Roig strip. This popular and award winning beach has a length of 150 meters with an average width of 16 meters and there are no obstacles in accessing it.

DEHESA DE CAMPOAMOR
The Urbanisation Dehesa de Campoamor is a green oasis on the Mediterranean coast. The beaches in Campoamor are also very attractive and popular particularly during the summer time with Spanish tourists, mostly from Murcia, Alicante and Madrid, and also with tourists from the rest of Europe, particularly from Germany and Great Britain.

The beach at Playa de La Glea, also known as the “Big Beach”, is the largest one in Campoamor and it is also the best equipped, with a First-Aid booth manned by the Red Cross, sanitation and other facilities. This beach is awarded the coveted ‘Blue Flag’ every year. This beach is not only popular with foreign tourists but also with residents from Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja, who flock to this beach every year.

The beach at Playa de Barranco Rubio, also known as the “Small Beach”, is obviously smaller than the Playa de la Glea. Traditionally this beach is mainly visited by tourists from the interior in Murcia and Alicante regions and these people tend to visit Campoamor every year so they all know each other, which makes for a very friendly and familiar atmosphere.

MIL PALMERAS
this natural beach is located close to the Campoamor beach and it has repeatedly been awarded Blue Flag status. This open beach boasts fine white sand and is 346 meters long by 45 wide. There are parking facilities, special access for handicapped people, toilets and foot-washing facilities, a life-guard tower and a Red Cross station.
